About the event
You'll spend the day up high visiting some of the best viewpoints on Kinder Scout including Grindslow Knoll, on to the highest point on the moorland plateau at 636 metres, and then to the trig point at Kinder Low. The route will be guided by local Hill and Moorland Leader, Sarah Lister who is author of Mountain Walks Kinder Scout.
You’ll need to wear comfortable walking boots and walking clothes, and bring extra warm layers, waterproofs, 2 litres of water, and plenty of food/snacks.
This event is for adults only. You’ll need a good level of fitness to complete this route but we’ll walk at a conversational pace and take breaks. There will be a longer break for lunch. The terrain will involve a mixture of flagstone paths, rocky paths, and boggy peaty sections.
I’ll point out places for comfort breaks and I’ll ask you to take all tissues and other waste away with you. We must leave no trace.
A weather forecast, parking details and a full kit list will be provided a day or two before the event. If you have any questions please email: sarah@sarahventurer.com
Edale has a train station between Sheffield and Manchester if you want/need to arrive by public transport.
If you want to stay in Edale the night before, options include The Rambler and Nag’s Head pubs, Fieldhead or Newfold campsites, or various air bnbs. Please note that Edale Youth Hostel is not in the village or near the meeting point so would only be suitable if you have a car.
If you bring a dog please keep them on a lead at all times and make sure they are used to walking this sort of distance and on similar terrain. If you have any concerns please email me.
